(304) 264-8505Joe Ferretti has been representing individuals in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia since co-founding the firm of Hammer Ferretti & Schiavoni along with his two partners in 1992. In 2018 after the retirement of Mr. Schiavoni and the election of Mr. Hammer to Circuit Court Judge in the 23rd Judicial Circuit the law firm of Ferretti Law Office, PLLC was formed which operated until Manchin Ferretti was started in 2020. In 33 years of professional associations, he has been committed to providing effective and personable service while ensuring success for his clients. He has successfully litigated or resolved cases for numerous clients with claims arising from auto accidents, pedestrian and cycling accidents, faulty home construction, medical malpractice and a variety of injury and death claims.
After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 1984 with a B.A. in both Economics and Political Science and the University of Pittsburgh School Of Law in 1987, he began his legal career as an associate with a large West Virginia insurance defense firm. During his years there he litigated and tried to verdict numerous cases as defense counsel in motor vehicle accidents and medical malpractice cases. Current clients benefit from his prior experiences regarding defense strategies and trial tactics.
Through trial work and successful mediations, arbitrations and settlement negotiations Mr. Ferretti and his law firms have obtained verdicts, awards and compensation for clients that now exceed $165 million dollars. He has also been an active member of the community serving on the board of several organizations and civic groups, including Berkeley Senior Services Board of Directors, Tuscarora Ruritan Club Board of Directors, and past service to the St. Joseph’s School Board and to St. Joseph’s Parish Pastoral Council.
Joe enjoys radio broadcasting and has been heard over the airwaves for many years on local stations WEPM and WRNR in Martinsburg, currently serving as a co-host and frequent guest on WRNR’s Eastern Panhandle Talk morning program discussing legal issues, politics and matters of interest locally. He also enjoys hunting, fly fishing and golf in his spare time. He raised three daughters in the Martinsburg community and continues to reside there with his wife, Penny, and beloved bird dog Laci.
